Oldham's J.R. Clynes Building wins two 2026 national construction awards
Oldham's restored Grade II-listed former library, the J.R. Clynes Building, won two national construction awards for its transformation into a civic and cultural hub.
Oldham's restored former library on Greaves Street has won two national construction awards, the Saddleworth Independent reports. The Grade II-listed J.R. Clynes Building, which stood empty from 2017 until it reopened in August 2025, was honoured in the cultural and leisure, and retrofit and reuse, categories at the 2026 British Construction and Infrastructure Awards.
Oldham Council's director of growth, James Kington, said winning was "a proud moment for everyone involved" and described the building as a modern civic and cultural space for residents, community groups and visitors.
