An Oldham student will swap a classroom for a nightclub dancefloor after being cast in a new production of Macbeth.

Amy Bent will play two roles, a witch and a murderer, in Oldham Coliseum's staging of the Shakespeare play at Liquid and Envy. It runs from October 23 until November 7.

She is a year 13 student at Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC), studying A Levels in Drama and Theatre Arts, Film Studies and Fine Art.

Amy has been acting for three years, starting with a production at her secondary school through the Co-op Academies Trust. She also teaches drama regularly in local schools, and has been chosen as one of the ambassadors for Oldham's year as Greater Manchester's Town of Culture.

After she finishes at OSFC, she plans to spend a gap year working with Oldham Theatre Workshop, continuing to teach, and working on film projects as a director and producer with Hall Productions, a new and emerging production company.

"I am really looking forward to playing both roles that I have been cast in," Amy said. "It's exciting to be putting a new spin on long-standing characters from Shakespeare.

"I am really enjoying working with the director, Nick Bagnall, too as he is allowing the cast a chance to play around with their characters and explore new ways of bringing them to life."
