Oldham is riskiest area with 706 vehicles stolen as Greater Manchester thefts fall 35.67 percent
Vehicle theft in Greater Manchester has dropped by more than a third in three years, with Oldham riskiest at 28 thefts per 10,000 residents.
Oldham has the highest rate of vehicle theft in Greater Manchester, with 706 vehicles stolen in 2025/26 down 4.5 percent on the previous year's total of 739.
This equates to 28 thefts per 10,000 residents.
Vehicle theft in Greater Manchester has dropped by more than a third in three years. Greater Manchester Police recorded 5,303 thefts or unauthorised taking of cars, vans, and motorcycles in the year ending March 2026, compared with 5,605 for the previous year, 6,714 for 2023/24, and 8,243 for 2022/23.
That equates to a fall of 35.67 percent. That is an average of approximately 442 offences per month, or roughly 14 offences per day, across Greater Manchester.
