A team from Oldham estate agents Ryder & Dutton has raised more than £35,000 for charity after completing a 196-mile relay in memory of their colleague Sophie Knight.

Sophie Knight, who was 42, died from cancer earlier this year. Her husband and daughter were among those who took part in the "Relay for Sophie" challenge, which began on Monday 13 July.

The team from Ryder & Dutton and its parent company, Northern Estate Agencies Group (NEAG), ran, cycled and walked between 36 branches and offices across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Yorkshire. The five-day challenge finished at St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.

The money raised will be split evenly between St Gemma's Hospice and the Ruth Strauss Foundation. Both charities provide specialist care, practical guidance and emotional support for patients with terminal illnesses and their families.

Mark Manning, managing director of NEAG, said: "Our target was £20,000, so to raise more than £35,000 is an incredible achievement and a fitting tribute to Sophie."

NEAG, which is part of LRG, owns Ryder & Dutton, Mortimers and Manning Stainton. It operates a network of 36 branches across several northern counties, including Greater Manchester.
