Oldham Council is urging residents to make the most of the borough's 32 parks and green spaces as part of the national #LoveParks Week, which runs from 24 July to 2 August.

The campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, highlights the benefits parks bring to communities. Oldham Council says the borough's green spaces offer opportunities for family outings, exercise, and relaxation.

For those looking to improve fitness, the council points to a network of outdoor gyms located in parks across Oldham. These gyms are designed for all ages and abilities, with some laid out as fitness trails and others as formal workout areas.

During the school holidays, parks provide free spaces for children to play. Junior Parkruns take place every Sunday at Uppermill and Alexandra Park.

The council also promotes parks as places for mental wellbeing, encouraging people to connect with nature, watch wildlife, or simply take a break from screens. Parks across the borough also host various events throughout the year.

Darren McGrattan, Assistant Director for Waste, Cleansing and Greenspace at Oldham Council, said: "I would encourage residents to get outside this summer, visit somewhere new and discover everything our parks have to offer."
