Oldham College has been given the Carnegie Schools Mental Health in Education Gold award.

The college said the award recognised its work to keep mental health and wellbeing support a priority for learners and staff. It said it was judged to have championed a whole-college approach to wellbeing and to have done well in every area covered by the assessment report, including organisational structure and culture for both staff and students.

According to the college, the report also notes that its wellbeing offer is central to its delivery plan for learners and that its student counselling service is well used.

Reuben Campbell, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Learner Wellbeing Lead, said: "We are proud to have received this prestigious award, and to be recognised for our excellent learner mental health and wellbeing support."

He added: "We are committed to ensuring our learners have access to high-level, individual and detailed support. I am so proud to be leading on this and would like to particularly thank the Safeguarding and Wellbeing team, who consistently deliver fantastic help and guidance."

The college said it would carry on providing high-quality support to help learners and staff thrive.
