Oldham town centre will host a free day of retro entertainment on Saturday 19 September, with vintage vehicles, live performances, and the unveiling of a community-created mural among the highlights.

Nostalgic Oldham runs from 11am to 4pm across the town centre. At its heart, the Big Yellow Bus will return to Parliament Square with circus acts, live music, and street entertainment throughout the day.

Artist Dave Draws will officially unveil a large illustrated map mural of Oldham in The Market from 11am. The artwork captures the borough's heritage while reflecting modern-day Oldham, shaped by local residents through drawing, storytelling, and personal connections to the area.

Tame Valley Motors will bring a collection of vintage vehicles to the town centre for visitors to explore up close, and the Saddleworth Morris Men will perform across the day.

Cycling fans can visit the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift tent to see the race trophy, meet the team bringing the event to Oldham, and learn more about the borough's role as a host venue for the race in summer 2027.

Additional performances and activities will come from Troupe Dance, Raggle Taggle Arts, Betty Brown Bags, and Oldham Theatre Workshop, while Oldham Archives will run a family craft workshop.

Subnum Hariff-Khan, Head of Libraries and Heritage and Arts at Oldham Council, said: "Nostalgic Oldham is a chance to celebrate everything that makes our borough special, from our history and traditions to the people and communities that shape Oldham today."

Northern Roots will also open the doors to its new Welcome Building from 11am on the same day. The building includes a cafe and shop, alongside a new Forestry Skills Centre and four additional acres of Urban Farm. Visitors can explore the outdoor children's play area and pick up fresh produce, gifts, books, and handcrafted products.
