Saint John Henry Newman Catholic College has congratulated its Year 11 students on their GCSE results, with the college reporting significant improvements across many subject areas.

The Class of 2026 was described by the college as a particularly close-knit year group, a bond that was evident during their Leaver's Celebration Day, Prom and the summer exam period itself. Staff said it was a joy to see students celebrating together with friends and family.

Three students stood out as the college's top achievers. Don Mathew, Dylan McKenna and Choice Unuagbon collected an incredible twenty-one Grade 9s between them. Don and Dylan will now go on to study Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-Level.

Other students also shared their delight. Friends Michal and Robbie opened their results together, with Michal saying he was "Overwhelmed, so happy, excited and proud! A massive thank you to the school." Robbie added: "All worked out in the end, hard work pays off. A huge thank you."

Lucy Holt also wanted to pass on her thanks, saying: "Thank you to all of my teachers that supported me."

The college said it hopes future students will have the courage and dignity to strive for the same excellent academic standards achieved by this year's Year 11. It wished all Newman leavers the very best for the future.
