My Secret House: Greenfield studio built on 400 years of Saddleworth family history
Deborah Hill opened My Secret House, a four-storey immersive interior design studio in Greenfield, reflecting her family's 400-year Saddleworth heritage.

An interior design studio and boutique in Greenfield has opened its permanent home on Chew Valley Road after a three-year renovation of the building.
My Secret House is a four-storey immersive studio where visitors can walk through curated rooms and see how colours, textures, lighting and finishes work together, rather than choosing from drawings or sample boards.
Owner Deborah Hill said her family has lived in Saddleworth for 400 years, dating back to the 1600s. She has worked in the interiors and construction industry for more than 30 years.
The business name came from her previous home, which she designed and built from the ground up more than a decade ago. "It wasn't on display as a showroom, it was my house, and I didn't really advertise it," she said. "Hence the name 'My Secret House.'"
That property was used for photoshoots with HELLO! and OK! magazines, and for scenes in Little Mix's 2016 hit single Hair.
After the business grew to a team of eight, Deborah began looking for a permanent home. She chose the Chew Valley Road building because of its symmetry. "The door in the middle, the windows either side and the three windows across the top just really suited me," she said.
She replaced every joist, wall, floor and door during the renovation, redesigning the property into a collection of studio spaces. The studio sells furniture, lighting, tiles, doors, accessories and candles, with prices ranging from affordable homeware to bespoke interior design.
Two dogs, Meggy and Romeo, accompany Deborah to the studio six days a week.
"Houses shouldn't feel like museums," she said. "They should feel like a hug."
