Moorside teacher Steve Hill to trek Colombian jungle for Team Hill Charitable Trust
Local adventurer Steve Hill will carry all equipment through the Colombian jungle to raise money for the Team Hill Charitable Trust.
A deputy headteacher from Moorside is heading into the Colombian jungle in August for a self-supported expedition to raise funds for charity.
Steve Hill MBE, who works at St Joseph's RC Primary School in Shaw, will carry all his equipment on his back, including a hammock and an anti-venom pump. He will face intense heat, humidity, river crossings and dense terrain with no outside support or modern comforts.
The expedition is the latest endurance challenge for Steve, who previously trekked across the Sahara Desert and ran nine marathons in nine days in Iceland. It is being undertaken to support the Team Hill Charitable Trust.
Pupils at St Joseph's will follow his progress during the expedition. Steve's fundraising adventures are a regular source of inspiration for the school community.
