Two new businesses are being prepared in Uppermill by local entrepreneur Mark Hughes, who is known online as Being Hughes.

His first venture is called Uppermill Rabbit Hole. It is based in a downstairs unit on High Street and is expected to open during October.

Before the Rabbit Hole has officially opened, Mark has signed a lease on another premises. He plans to launch CharCuteCafe at 76 High Street.

Mark announced the move, saying people would think he was mad because the Rabbit Hole was not open yet but he had signed another lease in Uppermill.

Throughout the summer, Mark deliberately kept people guessing about what the Rabbit Hole would be. A series of Alice in Wonderland-inspired videos featuring a rabbit offered followers clues, although many were designed to send them in the wrong direction.

One showed the rabbit taking a box marked casino down the stairs into the premises, while another featured bowling balls and pins. Another suggested a 24-hour karaoke bar, with a long line of people apparently waiting to get inside.

The mystery generated plenty of discussion online before Mark revealed the full concept behind the business.

CharCuteCafe will focus on charcuterie and small plates. Mark describes it as a luxurious but comfy place for people to spend time together.

He said he wants to create the perfect environment for something he feels passionate about: a place where people can give their full attention to those they are with.

Further details, including its menu and opening date, have yet to be announced.
