Improvement notice for Oldham Council SEND services lifted after review
Oldham Council was required to improve SEND services after Ofsted and CQC found 2 priority action areas; the notice was lifted on 15 April 2026.

An improvement notice requiring Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council to make changes to its special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) services has been lifted.
The notice was removed on 15 April 2026 after a review of the council's SEND provision, according to the government notice.
It had been issued in November 2023 after an inspection by Ofsted, the schools watchdog, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which regulates health and social care. That area SEND inspection identified 2 areas for priority action.
SEND services cover support for children and young people with conditions such as autism, speech and language difficulties, or learning disabilities, including help arranged through education, health and care plans.
The government said the notice required the council to take steps to improve those services. Its lifting means the requirement has been withdrawn following the review.
