Greenfield grandfather Mike Coulter has completed an almost 1,000-mile cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats, raising £14,600 in memory of his grandson Finley.

The ride supported Little Cloud, a charity helping bereaved families create precious memories following the loss of a baby. It had a personal meaning for Mike and his family as it was completed in memory of Finley, his grandson who was born sleeping.

Mike had previously cycled the Land's End to John O'Groats route 10 years ago, but this time every mile was dedicated to Finley.

The journey included fierce winds and driving rain in the Highlands. On one day, the team was forced to stop early after a member began showing signs of hypothermia.

Mike said: "This ride was about much more than cycling from one end of the country to the other. It was about remembering Finley, raising awareness, and supporting a charity whose work makes such a difference to families during the most difficult times imaginable."

Little Cloud works with hospitals and hospices to help families experiencing baby loss create lasting memories with their child, including support for 3D hand and foot casting and tiny clothing. By the time he reached John O'Groats, the ride had generated £14,600 for the charity.

Mike said: "To have raised £14,600 is amazing, and I want to thank everyone who donated, shared our story, and supported us throughout the journey. Every mile was for Finley."
