Greenfield arts group among 13 projects chosen for Oldham Town of Culture
Oldham's Town of Culture programme selected 13 local projects, including Phantasmagoria's Secret Suitcases, to celebrate its year.

13 creative projects have been chosen for funding as part of Oldham's year as Greater Manchester Town of Culture, including one from a Greenfield-based arts group.
Phantasmagoria CIC, based in the old Co-Op building on Manchester Road, will run The Secret Suitcases: Eight Wondrous Oldham Worlds. It is one of the projects selected through the Town of Culture programme, Rising Up.
Local creatives were invited to apply for a Town of Culture micro-commission earlier this year, with 84 applications received.
The projects involve 13 local artists, schools, charities and community groups across Oldham. Communities across the borough will take part in activities ranging from theatre, film and music to murals, embroidery and artwork.
The successful artists and organisations are Sew Oldham, by Isobel Pickup and Fay Buchanan; Oldham Rising: Stories of Belonging, by Eric Steele and Hack Oldham; Obumu, by Audrey Murphy and Support and Action for Women's Network (SAWN); and Warm Fuzzy Feels in Oldham, by Oldham Play Action Group.
Also selected were Bus Ride to Boom Town, by Lisa Whiteside and ACT on Oldham; The Secret Suitcases: Eight Wondrous Oldham Worlds, by Phantasmagoria CIC; and Rising Together, by Indian Association Oldham and Saheli Women's Group.
The projects will take place at different venues and events across the borough throughout Oldham's Town of Culture year, celebrating the people, places, cultures and stories that make up the town.
