The Feast of Fire takes place in Parliament Square this Saturday, with free entertainment from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

The event is part of Oldham's year as the Greater Manchester Town of Culture. It will turn the square into a Halloween and Bonfire Night celebration, with fire performances and roaming characters.

Visitors can watch Juggling Inferno, the fire and pyrotechnic displays of Helter Skelter Arts, and The Lips Halloween Show. They can also come face to face with Bessemer the fire-breathing dragon and Toni the giant bat, before a fireworks display brings the evening to a close.

Helter Skelter Arts' show features choreography and large fire special effects, with a duo dancing with flames. Juggling Inferno is a choreographed fire display featuring fire entertainers, and The Lips Halloween Show is a pop-puppetry singalong.

All council town centre car parks are free from 3.30pm to make it easier for families to attend.

Neil Consterdine, Oldham Council's Director of Communities, said the Feast of Fire was "one of the most exciting events in our calendar" during the town's year as Town of Culture, and that it was completely free.

He said the council was looking forward to welcoming families, and that free parking from 3.30pm made it a good opportunity to come into town, enjoy the Halloween fun and support local businesses.
