Police raided Oldham and Harpurhey addresses, arresting four suspected leaders of a gang stealing high-end cars and shipping them to the Congo.
Greater Manchester Police arrested four people in dawn raids on Wednesday, November 4, including at an address on Middleton Road in Oldham, the Manchester Evening News reports. Officers also raided a storage unit and further addresses in Harpurhey, north Manchester.
Police suspect the group of taking high-powered cars from driveways using electronic devices and shipping them overseas, reportedly as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo. Seven international shipments have been intercepted and 19 vehicles worth almost £600,000 recovered.
Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes said: "These aren't cheap vehicles; these are prestigious vehicles, high-value vehicles."
