Four people have been arrested after police were called to a disturbance on Oak Street in Shaw, Oldham, on Wednesday evening.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called at 7.42pm on Wednesday 30 September. One woman and three men were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody for questioning.

The scene was in place from 7.30pm on Wednesday until around 1pm today (October 1). According to people living nearby, an address on Britannia Avenue was also cordoned off.

Eyewitnesses told the Manchester Evening News they heard screaming before a police cordon was in place around Oak Street, Shaw. One anonymous witness told the MEN he heard a commotion around 8pm on Wednesday, but said he "didn't pay it much mind, thought it was one of the many arguments you hear coming from there". Police knocked on his door while making sure neighbours were okay, and he heard screams of "give me my bag back" near a police vehicle, he added.

GMP said enquiries remain ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 and quote log 3465 of 30/09/2026 or report via the LiveChat function at gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
