Five Saddleworth pubs and clubs have been named in the latest CAMRA Good Beer Guide, which features around 4,500 places to drink cask beer.

The venues are the White Hart in Lydgate, Dobcross Band and Social Club, the Cross Keys in Uppermill, and the Wellington Inn and Railway Inn in Greenfield.

They are among 11 establishments from across the wider Oldham borough included in the publication. The guide is produced by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), with entries selected independently by volunteers rather than by businesses paying to appear.

Dating back to 1788, the White Hart is a stone-built inn with a pub, restaurant and accommodation. Its cask range includes JW Lees Bitter, Millstone Tiger Rut and Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, alongside a changing guest beer.

Dobcross Band and Social Club is home to three brass bands and has five cask ales available on handpull. Regular beers from JW Lees and Joseph Holt are joined by guest ales from breweries such as Millstone, Ossett and Phoenix.

Standing above Uppermill, the Grade II-listed Cross Keys dates from the 18th century and is a stopping point for walkers. Its range centres on JW Lees ales, with Boilerhouse Craft Pale and changing local guest beers also available.

The family-run Wellington Inn offers home-cooked food. Six handpumps offer a selection focused largely on locally brewed ales, including beers from nearby Millstone Brewery.

The Railway Inn sits opposite Greenfield railway station and is known as a stop on the TransPennine Rail Ale Trail. Its nine handpumps feature local and Yorkshire ales, including Millstone alongside beers from Ossett, Thornbridge and Timothy Taylor.
