Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, which has been providing compassionate care to patients and families in Oldham since 1989, is gearing up for its annual Ascot Ladies’ Day event. Taking place on Thursday, June 18 at The White Hart Inn in Lydgate, this year’s celebration aims to build on last year’s impressive £8,700 raised for patient care.

Guests are invited to dress in their finest for a day filled with luxury and entertainment. The festivities kick off at 11.30am with a welcoming glass of Buck’s fizz or Pimm’s, followed by a delectable three-course lunch. Throughout the afternoon, live racing from Royal Ascot will be screened, creating an immersive race-day atmosphere. The day winds down with a traditional afternoon tea at 5pm.

Joanne Penketh, Income Development Manager at the hospice, shared her enthusiasm: “It is always such a fun afternoon, and the perfect excuse to get your friends, colleagues and loved ones together. With a professional photographer, onsite bookmaker, raffle, auction and a ‘best hat’ competition, there is something for everyone.” She added, “Most importantly, every ticket sold helps us make a real difference for patients and their families in our community.”

This year holds special significance as it marks the 20th anniversary of organiser Gill Bussey’s involvement with the event. A dedicated fundraiser for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Bussey has previously judged the charity’s popular Strictly dance competition. Her commitment has helped make Ascot Ladies’ Day a key date in the local fundraising calendar.
