Students at Crompton House Sixth Form collected their A-level results on 13 August 2026, with more than half achieving A*-B grades.

The school reported that 53% of students achieved all A*-B grades, 25% achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades, more than 38% achieved at least one A* or A, and more than 80% of grades awarded were A*-C.

Mr Smith, Head of Sixth Form, said: "I am delighted with the overall results and the fantastic achievements of individual students. The students should be so proud of themselves, their hard work has clearly paid off." He said a provisional Alps progress figure of 2 places the school in the top 10% of Key Stage 5 providers for student progress.

More than 75% of students who applied to university secured their first choice, with more than 90% getting their first or second choice. Top achiever Katie Elphick, who gained five A* grades in maths, further maths, biology, chemistry and her Extended Project, will read Biology at Oxford University. Abigail Evans will read Human Sciences at Oxford, and Brooke Crotty will study Human, Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge.

Cain Andrews, who finished in the top 6% in the country in his UCAT entrance exam, will study Medicine at the University of Manchester. Several other students have secured apprenticeships: Marcel Holdip and Brooke Burgess have started at Softcat in Manchester, Adam George begins at CBRE, and Max Evans joins Yorkshire Water.

The University of Manchester remains a popular destination. Grace Fitzpatrick will study physics with astrophysics, Dan Abbott aerospace engineering, Caitlin Clarke psychology, Sophie Meyrick architecture, and George McLean politics, philosophy and economics.

Four students will read law: Head Girl Molly Williams at York, Lola Hogan at Lincoln, Alicia Cooke at Leeds and Macie Goulding at Queen's Belfast. Engineering students include Simbarashe Madume, who will study aerospace engineering at Bristol, Tiger Yang and Leon Gerrard, who head to Sheffield for electrical and electronic engineering and biomedical engineering, and William Fitton, who will read electrical and electronic engineering at Nottingham.

In further maths, 75% of students achieved an A*, with Luca Renfrew taking mathematics at Durham. Katie Barnett will study biology and history and philosophy of science at Leeds, Fiyinfoluwa Oyedeko starts a nursing course at King's College London, and James Taylor will study quantity surveying at the University of Salford.

Susanna Hegarty, Head of School, said: "I am immensely proud of our Year 13 students as they receive their A-level results today. This wonderful year group has achieved a particularly rewarding set of outcomes." She praised the "quiet determination, character and focus" students had shown throughout their time in the sixth form.

Students who exceeded their target grades include Isabella Woodman, Lola Hogan, George McLean, Eleanor Petrie, Joshua Neaven and Tiger Yang. Marianna Cooke will start a music performance degree on trumpet at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Twenty-three students completed the Extended Project this year, with nearly 50% achieving A*-A. Projects included Katie Elphick's A* book on the poisonous plants of Great Britain, George McLean's A* essay on resistance training variables, and Luca Renfrew's A* dissertation on the likelihood of humans colonising Mars. Claudia Greenwood produced vegan and halal sweets as part of her project with the Young Enterprise Scheme.

Mr Newell, Executive Head of Crompton House Multi Academy Trust, said the Year 13 cohort had been "truly outstanding", with a pass rate of 99.8%, and estimated that the progress measure would place the sixth form among the top 10% nationally.
