Chadderton chef Simon Wood is celebrating the first year of his Manchester restaurant with a month of events and prize draws.

Wood, a MasterChef winner, opened Wood Manchester at First Street in August 2017. The restaurant serves what he calls un-intimidating fine dining, and has picked up reviews from the Guardian and the Telegraph. It has also sold hundreds of Tomahawk steaks on Tomahawk Tuesday.

Throughout August, every table dining at the restaurant will be given a Willy Wonka style golden ticket and a chance to win a prize. Prizes include a free glass of fizz, a cheese board, a drinks masterclass, or a free PDR for up to 16 guests. There will be a larger celebration on August 31, and further chances to win prizes through the restaurant's social media channels during August.

Simon said: "Opening my own restaurant has been a lifelong dream and the past year has seen that dream come true.

"It has been a joy to cook for so many people and give them a taste of my own style of un-intimidating fine dining and it will be a pleasure to give something back to everyone who dines with us in August as we look forward to another successful year."

Wood is set to open a second site, Wood Chester, in 2019 in the new Hotel Indigo. Tables can be booked at www.woodmanchester.com.
